Who are you?

My name is Natalie. I’m a senior at Eastern Michigan University (EMU) studying communication technology. I’m a digital designer with experience in graphic, web, and brand design, social media management, and more.

At EMU, I work as the social media manager for the student newspaper, The Eastern Echo. Previous to this position, I worked as the digital editor for The Washtenaw Voice, the student newspaper of Washtenaw Community College. It was there that I developed my passion for digital journalism and have been chasing it ever since.

In the future, I want to continue my path in digital journalism and work as a digital content editor. I love that my work brings the best of my skills together for a good cause by allowing me to publish news to my audience as timely as possible.

What is the Digital Summer Clinic?

The Digital Summer Clinic is a highly competitive summer internship program open to students and recent graduates in Southeast Michigan. It is run in conjunction with the EMU Center for Digital Engagement and Ann Arbor Spark.

The clinic accepts 48 interns. These interns are divided into partnerships and paired with 24 different companies participating in the Ann Arbor SPARK start-up incubator.

During the clinic, interns gain practical experience in digital marketing, receive guidance from mentors and industry professionals, obtain a digital skills certification, and work on developing their professional portfolio.

What company are you interning for?

I am paired with the company Denovo Fertility. Denovo Fertility utilizes functional medicine to help couples struggling with infertility find and fix the root cause.

At Denovo Fertility, I will be working as a social engagement and web design intern. This role consists of two parts: fostering an online community by engaging with users on social media, and secondly, advising the team on how to best redesign their website. I am excited to work with Denovo Fertility and can’t wait to see what we will accomplish together!
