Week One: Embracing discomfort

The Digital Summer Clinic has officially begun!

I fought off impostor syndrome this week as I attended the first clinic meetings and began my work with Denovo Fertility. I’ve been hoping to join the Digital Summer Clinic for a long time, but now that it’s actually happening, it feels a little surreal.

My team at Denovo Fertility has been nothing short of wonderful. They’re genuine, compassionate, and supportive people. I deeply appreciate the team’s strong communication system since our work together will be entirely virtual.

My primary role will focus on social media engagement, particularly on Instagram. I’ll be interacting with users and potential clients to nurture a welcoming online community. While I don’t have direct experience in this type of work, I’m confident that my background in customer service and social media management has equipped me with the tools I’ll need to succeed.

One of my biggest challenges so far has been learning the ins and outs of the company itself. To engage effectively on social media, I need a strong understanding of Denovo Fertility’s brand, mission, and voice. I’ve requested a brand language guide to help with this and have been diving into the website and previous social media content to build up a strong foundation of knowledge.

In addition to social media engagement, I’ll be partnering with Khongorzul Tseesuren to create an influencer program for Denovo Fertility. This is also a new type of project for me, and I’m not entirely sure what it will look like yet, but I’m excited to collaborate with Khongorzul and push myself into unfamiliar territory.

Speaking of unfamiliar territory, one of my personal goals during this internship is to embrace discomfort. I’ve realized that I often avoid opportunities simply because I fear the discomfort they might bring. But growth rarely happens in comfort zones. I’m determined to use this internship to break that habit and set the tone for a bold and intentional senior year of college.

Quote of the week:

“Keep rolling with the punches.”
